BFlex Software Configuration

General Configuration

Mac OS X 10.5.8 2.6 GHz (Intel) or better 2 GB RAM (or higher) OR
Windows XP SP3 or Windows Vista SP2 2 GHz or better 2 GB RAM (4 GB for Vista)

Software

The following is a list of software commonly used by Flex designers and developers. Please check the information for your specific session below for any explicit requirements. Most sessions will use one or more of these (links are for both Windows and Mac):

Mac Users:

If using a Mac ensure you download Eclipse Classic Carbon. The Cocoa version is not supported in Flash Builder 4 for Mac.

Vista 64 bit Users:

Flex Builder 3 does not work out of the box on Vista 64 bit. It takes
a bit of work:

Download and install Eclipse 3.4, classic version, 32 bit. Do not install the latest version, or the 64 bit version.
Download and install Flex Builder 3 plugin. The install process will almost work but will fail to register Flex Builder as a plugin with Eclipse. This error will not halt the installation process so allow it to finish (i.e. don’t cancel out of it). Then go to the next step.
Start Eclipse. Go to Help > Software Update > Manage Configuration. Right click on the left pane and click Add > Extension Location. Choose the location of your Flex Builder 3 plugin (most likely C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Flex Builder 3 Plugin) and click ok.
Restart Eclipse.
To make sure Flex Builder 3 is working properly, try creating a new empty Flex project with default settings. Eclipse should try to switch to the Flex Builder perspective if everything works right.
